About Us

Thames Medical was founded in 1993 to introduce, sell and service innovative vital signs monitors specialising in the pre-hospital, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) field. The first products available were the remarkable MiniPack 911 series of Blood Pressure monitors from Pace Tech in Florida, designed especially for paramedics on the move.

The MiniPack 911 was the first monitor that Thames Medical redesigned, in order to make the monitor comply with European standards and make it easier to use. Most of Thames Medical's modifications are now included as standard throughout the whole range. Thames Medical now supplies its modified MiniPacks to nearly 40% of UK Ambulance Services.

1995 saw the development of some of the most revolutionary veterinary medical products and services and the filing of our first two Patents on Pulse Oximetry and Oximetry Sensor Technology.

1996 brought TV "stardom" with two appearances: Meridian News and The BBC's "How do they do that?" as well as a business write up in the London Evening Standard. The newly formed companies that make up the Thames Medial Group: Thames Medical Manufacturing (TM Manufacturing Ltd) and Thames Medical Research (TM Research Ltd) commenced trading. Thames Medical moved into manufacturing its own developed products, along with the achievement of ISO 9002. Managing Director, Mike Brampton was invited to join the Association of Veterinary Anaesthetists.

1997 saw Thames Medical consolidating its position in all its market areas and introducing several new outstanding products like the pocket sized 12-lead diagnostic ECG system The Biolog and the launch of the market leading veterinary pulse oximeter, The Tiger. In 1998 Thames Medical extended its relationship with our suppliers. Thames Medical also developed its first human pocket sized oximeter The Cub specifically for the CERN Institute in Geneva.

1999 started the development of the C2 pocket sized oximeter for specialist rescue and covert operations personnel.
